Astrology for Thurs. 12/8: 4 Tips for Surviving Sun Opposition Mars Retrograde. The Gemini full moon conjunct Mars retrograde was exact yesterday, Wed. 12/7, at 21:08 MST, but the sun's opposition of Mars retrograde technically doesn't complete until today, so consider today an extension of yesterday's full moon energy. In Tuesday's weekly live, I went over 4 tips for surviving this Gemini full moon, which is also today's sun-Mars opposition. As this energy climaxes and peaks, we may feel the urge to stand our ground and say things that come bubbling up, and that may feel good in the moment, but before you let things fly, pause and ask yourself if that is really going to get you what you want. My invitation to you is to really tune into what's coming up within you around this full moon, really through Friday, and to trace it back to where you weren't authentic and courageous and telling the "micro-truths" to begin with, and to make a commitment to begin doing more of this starting now. Allow the full moon to illuminate this for you, and give a few days for the information to fully integrate. Pay attention to what's going on with others around you too. Then you will be in perfect position to craft interactions that move you towards your desires in a productive and constructive way. (And remember that Mars doesn't station direct until 1/12, so we are still in review mode until then around all things Mars in our lives.) Mars retrograde in Gemini is a review of how we self-assert and go after what we want, and also our relationship to anger and how we protect/defend ourselves. Many times the anger comes up because we haven't asserted ourselves effectively to begin with - we haven't communicated our authentic truth, our desires, our "no's." As sun opposes Mars retrograde, there is a tug of war going on between this review of how we "Mars" and our ego. We may feel a need to be right, to be validated, or run into issues taking full responsibility for what our (typically unconscious) actions have created in our lives and feel the need to defend ourselves, and this may cause conflict, both within and without. With this in mind, here are 4 tips for surviving today's sun-Mars opposition. Cultivate patience, and employ strategy and tact. Channel any frustration or excess energy into physical exercise or creative projects. Working with your hands is optimal. Think before you speak. Be willing to look at what's coming up within you without reacting or acting on it. Then think about what your desired outcome actually is and what kind of conversation would best accomplish that. Remember that this is about mastery of our self-assertion - how we keep healthy boundaries and how we state our needs and desires and go about getting those met. If we haven't been doing that for any reason, we are likely to feel anger, resentment, stuck, and trapped. See what's coming up now and where you can start being more courageous and authentic, sharing your "micro-truths" as you go with loved ones. Make a commitment now to be brave and just try it the next time an opportunity presents itself, and then you can build on that. Another thing for today - as Venus nears the end of her transit of enthusiastic and expansive Sagittarius, moving into a square with Jupiter in Aries tomorrow and then by 20:54 MST entering Capricorn, today is a great day to get out, live it up, and be social. Do something exciting, inspiring, or get out into nature. Open to opportunities for learning, growing, expansion. By tomorrow evening, she will have joined Mercury in serious and practical Capricorn, setting the stage for Capricorn season and solstice, and the vibe will feel totally different. *We've got huge change on deck for March, and the astrology now is our set up.
